Half a lifetime ago I was diagnosed with colon cancer,
I underwent radical chemo and radiotherapy followed by surgery
and thankfully have been in remission ever since.

The side-effects of treatment have made regular work/normal life difficult

I have what has only recently been described as LARS(Lower Anterior Resection Syndrome).
It is very disruptive and you will find zero sympathy or accommodations in just about any
workplace.

Had a daydream recently about the former press buildings on Govan Rd;
In the 1980's there was a tree growing oot of the guttering, it overhung
the pavement and a bit of the road by some way such that eventually
the cooncil acted to have it removed.

I find it a shame that there's nae photograph of it that I can find online.
Memory's fine and all but sometimes it's the unique wee things like that, that we
lose to time.

Same for Napier house, across the road and just a block away, opposite St Gerard's.
I have a strong memory of having to deliver leaflets and papers there and getting lost inside,
the layout was absolutely labyrinthian, but again there's no much in the way
of documented pics or film of the inside of it, sadly.

So much of working class history is just forgotten like that,
as neglected as the folk who lived it.
